Future Retriever Program
Building the Next Generation of Hunting Retrievers
The North American Hunting Retriever Association (NAHRA) Future Retriever Program is designed to introduce young retrievers and their owners to the exciting world of hunting retriever training and field testing. The program encourages new participants to develop their dogs' natural retrieving instincts while building a strong foundation in obedience, teamwork, and practical hunting skills.
Through the Future Retriever Program, new members receive a complimentary one-year NAHRA individual membership, providing an opportunity to become familiar with the organization, its training philosophy, and its field-testing programs.
NAHRA's field tests are designed to evaluate retrievers under realistic hunting conditions, with dogs progressing through different testing levels based on their abilities rather than their age. From basic retrieving skills to advanced upland and waterfowl work, NAHRA promotes the development of versatile, dependable hunting companions.
Whether you're raising your first retriever or preparing your next hunting partner, the Future Retriever Program offers an introduction to a community dedicated to preserving hunting traditions, promoting responsible retriever training, and celebrating the special bond between hunters and their dogs.
