My name is Terry Strege. I have been an avid bird and big game hunter since 1986. Last year, I retired from a 33-year Law Enforcement career as a Sheriff Deputy, serving in about every position available from ERT, Major Crimes Unit, Rescue Recovery Diver, FTO, to Court Security and undercover narcotics. In 2001, I got my first lab, a chocolate named “Angel.” She was way smarter than me for dog training and learning. On the advice of friends and fellow dog owners, I joined NAHRA in 2003 and am a founding member of the Four Points Retriever Club. My dogs have earned most of the NAHRA titles. I'm working on a “CH” and the upland titles. I have had chocolate lab litters and learned a great deal about proper breeding, health clearances, and title documentation. I became a judge a few years later and was fortunate to judge the 2019 Invitational in Palmer, Alaska. As a member of FPRC, I have served as their member at large, Vice President, and President for two terms. I have served on several committees and in many hunt test positions.
Each year, I help organize a disabled veterans hunt and two “Fetch-A-Cure” events that FPRC runs. Giving back to the veterans is very rewarding. We donate the proceeds from “Fetch-A-Cure,” in conjunction with Kinetic Dog Food, to a cancer patient each year. Past recipients include Police Officers, Firefighters, Veterans, and children. I like the history and traditions NAHRA offers as a hunt test organization. The first is still the best for an all-around complete retriever. I look forward to serving NAHRA as the Central Regional Director and moving us forward.
